As a Financial Controller at SumUp, you will support the Controlling function in overseeing the company's financial operations and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting. You will play a crucial role in financial reporting, and assist in maintaining robust controls over quality of information.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Reporting
Financial controller for middle tier entities within the group responsible for the statutory financial reporting
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS/GAAP
Coordinate and prepare internal financial reports, management accounts and financial statements
Review month end results together with variance analysis for the material movements
Lead standalone audits and assist in the Group audit
Oversee the timely and accurate submissions of monthly reporting and the month end closing process
Oversee annual closing activities applicable for the legal entities in scope
General Ledger Management
Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger, ensuring accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions
Review of critical accounting entries of the accounting function
Review key reconciliation performed by accounting function as part of the month end closing process - reconciliation of bank accounts, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other balance sheet accounts
Review significant contracts and assess correctness of accounting records
Process Improvement
Identify and recommend improvements to financial processes and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy
Assist in the development and implementation of new accounting policies and procedures
Team Collaboration
Work closely with other finance team members to ensure cohesive and comprehensive financial management
Key liaison between FP&A, Tax, Treasury, Technical Accounting, Internal and External Audit teams
Navigate complexity and strategic directions, in view of transfer pricing and collaborate with internal tax experts for proper reporting
Provide guidance to junior accounting staff as needed
Exercise critical judgment and remove critical blockers for the teams
Support ad hoc projects around due diligence, tax or internal restructuring projects
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree (BA) or Master in Accounting is required
Qualified or in a process of acquiring ACCA or equivalent
3 - 5 years of increasing financial responsibility in a similar position
Relevant experience in accounting or finance, within a fast-paced, high-growth environment
Experience in Big 4 would be considered as advantage
Robust knowledge of IFRS/GAAP financial reporting standards and financial reporting
Sound general legal, tax and compliance knowledge
Proficient in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
Fluent English, both written and spoken
Second language is a plus (French, German, Italian)
